While in the kiln, a chemical reaction takes place between the two different coloured glasses producing grey boundaries, creating this distinctive and beautiful outline of a tree.
The back of this dish shows some discolouration due to the deep chemical reaction that has taken place between the two colours. However, as the glass is opaque, these do not detract from the beauty of the dish.
