Trinket Dish Set - Petrified Wood Reaction

A set of 4 fused glass trinket dishes of two different types of glass that react with one another.

Petrified Wood glass initially looks very boring, just a clear and brown streaky glass. But in the kiln, a chemical reaction takes place between the Petrified Wood top layer and the blue glass base layer producing spectacular deep reds, blues and yellows.

A little bit of science: "The clear areas of Petrified Wood contain Red Reactive Clear, a style that reacts with select copper-bearing glasses, developing deep red hues where they meet." Refence.

The trinket dishes have been fired twice. Once to fuse the two glasses together, then to slump the fused glass into the dish shape.
